S we think of all the great men who hare left a cherished name ; When we think of deeds of valor, which have bought undying fame ; We may search through history's pages, which the golden clasps contain, But the one that towers highest is in Washington's great name. Father of our country's freedom, where choicest seeds were sown In our Sacred Constitution, in the depth of wisdom shown; Washington the fearless leader, Washington who stands alone ; Washington whose star grows brighter, and whose light we call our own: Washington, our Nation's father, through the Constitution gave Freedom to Iris worthy subjects, who escaped oppression's wave, And his name through all the ages " as they swiftly roll away" Leaves for us a fond remembrance, dearer with each dawning day. We should hold his name quite sacred--he has earned a sacred place, Which our Uncle Sam in wisdom shares with all his happy race; Washington a hero noble, as his every deed has shown, Therefore with much pride we utter, Washington is all our own. |
