In keeping pace with systems great; the Railway trains and roadbeds too We find great factors for success, and we may well, the facts review And weigh the coat, and then results, whereby equations we may gain. And straighten out some old accounts that justly give a touch of pain. Our highways in the Keystone State are much neglected as we know; The farmers mostly handicapped, to market products as we show; A half a load and double time re- quired for every trip they take Because the mud demands a toll, which means the most the farmers make. A look at countries old and staid where roads for generations past Were nicely paved; the proven true that wisdom was within the group Of me whose brains were concrete quite in paving ways the world re- quires. To save the man; to save the team; to save the home and cheerful fires. Values enhance as roads improve; the dust; the mud; the very clay When utilized and wisely used, is worth the price we have to pay; Yet every step toward the goal; to- ward the bright and morning star Will prove the truth that paving ways are equal to the BONDS at par. Vote for BONDS to build the roads; your Ballot does the mes- sage send; Prepare to have a smoother way; to be commenced when war shall end. The Wealth is taxed to pay the bill; the masses hear the progress song; The rich and poor on schedule time, will find the road not half so long. The Bonds for many years will run; the State will pay the bill 'tis true; You need not look for mud from me; I need not take the dust from you, Because CEMENTED is the way, and each may well his coffer fill. Through Marketing the products good, and sending then the boys to mill. Don't fail to vote to Bond the State; returns are waiting down the road, And every farmer in the land, in half the time; with twice the load Can see the wisdom of his choice, or otherwise must meet his fate. The TEXT TO PROGRESS, is the POND; an Issue for the Keystone State. Warren, Pa. JOHN B. CABLE Nov. 4, 1918 |
